World Home Economics Day

This year, a belated celebration of World Home Economics Day was held in conjunction with the presentation ceremony for the West Australian 2023 King and Amy O’Malley scholarships.

The event, which was attended by 30 people, was held at Old Young’s Kitchen in the Swan Valley on Sunday 7th May. The menu was a selection of modern dishes inspired by Head Chef Rohan Park’s love for native foods. The dishes were prepared using fresh, hyper-local, and sustainable produce, and it was evident that great care had been taken to ensure a unique dining experience. This social occasion provided an excellent opportunity for all who attended to connect with Home Economics educators, colleagues, researchers, and professionals, share ideas and celebrate the profession.

Teresa McAllister, a member of the WA O’Malley interview panel, presented the certificates to Caitlin Ellingson, Sylvia Granville, Jessica Harrison, Ashleigh Montgomery and Sandy Smith. Congratulations are extended to all recipients.
